Engineering Innovative Security Systems

Security on superyachts is becoming paramount as yachts travel further afield into unchartered waters, as well as more popular, busy areas, both of which heighten the security for any superyacht and those on board. For this very reason Ocean Marine Systems was approached by systems integrator MarineGuard to produce a customised solution for a specific customer.

Specialist marine equipment company Ocean Marine Systems has developed a bespoke solution to deploy equipment that offers underwater perimeter security. The patented design deploys and retracts a class leading security system through the keel enabling the vessel to monitor its underwater surroundings. The system can be used to monitor guests when diving from the vessel or using subsea toys, whilst also raising an alarm if additional persons or vehicles enter its’ underwater perimeter.

“This has been a really interesting project to be involved with,” comments Adam Nice, Technical Designer at Ocean Marine Systems. “We design and develop bespoke solutions for all our clients and this project has been no exception. Every detail has been thought through to ensure the unit is as compact and maintenance free as possible.”

Ocean Marine Systems has manufactured a number of through-hull instrument hoists for marine survey, research and security applications, however this is the first of its kind for superyacht security.
